Portrait Session With The Williams Family

Aloha, Happy Holidays and Feliz Natal!

Thank you for visiting my blog, I hope that everyone is having a great holiday season. I love this time of year—it’s so exciting doing all the shopping, wrapping presents and decorating the tree, especially as it’s my little Isabella's first Christmas. I can’t wait!

The Maui wedding season normally takes a short break in mid-December, when more family groups travel out to the islands for the holidays and some winter sunshine. So, my wedding photography goes on a brief hold at this time of year and I work on a lot of family portraits instead. Lucky for me, I love doing both.

Maui family portraits are great to show off to the people back home, especially if you’re pictured on a tropical Hawaiian beach while everyone else is shoveling snow from their driveways! These family group photos also make excellent Christmas cards and every winter I offer an annual holiday special for Hawaii residents, which includes a 45-minute photo session and 15 images for a Kama’aina rate.

This locals’ offer meant I got to work with the wonderful Williams family recently. We wanted to use a location that would make for excellent pictures and would be suitable for two small kids, so I chose the beach at Lahaina Breakwall, otherwise known as Makila Beach. There are so many background options here, lots of greenery and palm trees, a beautiful and calm Maui beach, plus the Hawaiian voyaging canoe hale at Hui O Wa’a Kaulua. The sunsets are also amazing from this particular spot and the light, with its orangey tones, was perfect for our sunset shoot. The kids were so much fun to photograph, it was such a great and happy photo session. Check out some  of my favorites in the gallery below.

Merry Christmas to all! Rodrigo
