Welcome back! I hope you are having a wonderful week and getting ready for the new fall season.
I love this time of year on Maui. The temperature drops a little, we get to start digging out all our "warm clothes" which, by Maui standards, means that we might start wearing the occasional pair of socks and perhaps—if it gets really cold—a flannel. Apologies to those of you who are reading this in legitimately freezing, snowy places :-)
It’s also a great time of year to be a Maui wedding and portrait photographer, as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year all bring a lot of visitors (and a lot of fun work) out here to the islands. What could be better than having a winter photography session under the Maui sun, to show off to all your freezing friends and coworkers back home!
Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a maternity shoot for some good friends of mine, Destinee and Daniel. I was able to capture Destinee's baby bump just in time before Harbor, their baby girl, arrived a couple of weeks ago.
I photographed the three of them up at beautiful Honolua Bay in West Maui. I love working there, as it’s a great place to get a wide variety of contrasting backgrounds, from the green jungle-like foliage, to the rocky beach, to the water. We got lucky because the light was perfect and the ocean was nice and calm so we could do some nice water-based maternity shots. Destinee and Daniel were also super relaxed in front of the camera, which made for some awesome, natural pictures. It was such a great shoot.
Here are a few of my favorites from our Maui maternity session. Congratulations Destinee and Daniel!
